For over a decade the iPad has been the world’s best selling and most popular tablet. However, this lead has been further cemented by the latest data from analytics firm IDC.

Overall growth was slower for the tech giant at 3.5% compared to huge growth from third place Lenovo at 64.5%. That being said Apple enjoyed a huge market share of 31.9% compared to Lenovo’s 11.6%. Samsung in second place, enjoys a market share of 19.6% by comparison.

It’s worth noting that Apple’s result is particularly impressive when you consider that the average selling price of most iPad models is considerably higher than Samsung, Lenovo, Amazon and others. Tim Cook shared in Apple’s earnings call this week that the iPad enjoyed its strongest quarter in almost a decade.

Clearly the pandemic continues to play a role in consumer behaviour as many of us continued to work from home in the Spring quarter.
