With the release of version 14.2, Apple introduced a really useful new feature to Control Centre on both iOS and iPadOS. It enables users to activate Shazams industry-leading music recognition technology within other Apps. And can also be used to recognise music without the need to install a separate Shazam App.

Apple acquired Shazam back in 2018 and has invested heavily into the App. It works seamlessly with Apple Music and integrates the discovery and recognition system in a way that enables users to easily add recognised tracks to their Apple Music library.

To enable the Control Centre feature, simply follow these steps:

  • Open settings
  • Scroll down and tap on control centre
  • Tap the + button next to the Shazam icon
  • Open an App with steaming audio or watch a video containing music and open Control Centre
  • Tap on the Shazam icon and within a few moments it will recognise the track currently playing

I’ve found this feature to be incredibly useful and judging by the data so do many millions of others. Have you tried this feature out? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
