According to Mac Otakara, Apple plans to launch an updated iPad Air in the Spring. This will be the fifth generation of the iPad Air with 5G support will also include Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, an LED flash for the rear-facing camera and an ultra-wide front-facing camera. The front-facing camera would also support Apple’s Center Stage feature that first shipped with the 2021 iPad Pro.
The next iPad Air is expected to feature the same overall design as the current generation. That isn’t too surprising considering Apple re-designed the iPad Air when it released the current model. But the addition of a faster chip, 5G and camera improvements will be welcome upgrades for consumers yet to buy an iPad Air.

We’re likely to see an Apple event in the Spring according to reliable analyst Mark Gurman. The company is expected to announce a raft of new products including the rumoured 5th generation iPad Air. But other products may include a third-generation iPhone SE, an updated Mac mini and perhaps the long rumoured redesign of the iMac Pro.
Mac Otakara has a pretty decent track record on Apple Track so these rumours do carry some weight. That being said they are rather predictable upgrades so it would be somewhat surprising if these features were missing. More surprising would be the addition of ProMotion which until now remains exclusive to the iPad Pro. Though that likely won’t arrive until perhaps Apple moves to even higher 240hz refresh rates on the pro line in a couple of years.
