Yesterday Apple released a swathe of new developer and public beta updates with further releases today. And Apple’s new Beats collaboration with Kim Kardashian is here.

Beta 6 updates

The 6th beta of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9 are here in addition to their public beta 4 counterparts. But so far there is no sign of the 6th macOS Ventura beta.

Now that Apple has moved to a weekly release cycle with the latest round of betas, new changes and features are much less common. In this particular update, for instance, the only notable update is a change to the behaviour of the battery icon. In beta 5 of iOS 16, the battery percentage would appear when the device was in low power mode, regardless of if the user enabled the battery percentage toggle. Now in beta 6, this behaviour no longer occurs. If you have the switch toggled off, the percentage remains off in low power mode.

Beats x Kim

As announced by Apple last week, its Beats brand has collaborated with Kim Kardashian on a new Beats Fit Pro collection. The collaboration formally known as Beats x Kim is a curated colour palette of Beats Fit Pro earbuds.

The new buds come in three neutral tones selected by Kardashian for their ability to blend in. A sort of ‘stand out by fitting in’ statement. Kardashian wanted to create a colour palette that didn’t scream ‘tech’ compared to the colours typically used for most headphones.

The new collection is available in ‘Moon, Earth and Dune’. The buds are priced at the same $199 as the standard colour options. The existing colours remain available including black, white, stone purple and sage grey.

The AppleTLDR take

I definitely do not keep up with the Kardashians. Or celebrity culture in general. It just isn’t my thing. Though I do have great respect for what Kardashian has been able to achieve in the tech space. Many wouldn’t realise but she actually owns an app development company and has helped to kick start small gaming companies. Don’t believe me? Check out this interview below.
